1x6x8' V-Groove Bald/Southern Cypress

Also known as “Car Siding”, “V-Joint”, "V Board", "V Notch", and “#122 Pattern”, our 1x6x8' Tongue & Groove V-Groove wall panels showcase the beautiful, sweeping grain and rich, warm honey-to-reddish-brown tones of authentic Southern Cypress. This premium wood is a spectacular, high-end choice for both your interior walls and ceilings, as well as demanding outdoor spaces.

These boards feature a classic rustic character balanced by a smoothly planed face and a sharp V-groove at the joint. Renowned for its legendary, lifelong durability, Bald Cypress is rich in natural oils that make it highly resistant to moisture, rot, decay, and insects. The boards are Kiln Dried and have a 8-10% moisture content.

Starting as 1" rough lumber, these boards are milled to your choice of thickness: a heavy 7/8", a standard 3/4", or a slimmer 5/8".

Cypress planks are exceptionally stable, easy to install, and provide far greater structural durability than drywall. Because Bald Cypress is naturally weather-resistant, it excels in high-moisture environments like porches, patios, and outdoor siding where other woods might warp or decay.

Our kiln-dried Southern Cypress takes finishes beautifully. It can be clear-coated with polyurethane to preserve its stunning natural luster, left unfinished to weather gracefully into a classic silvery-gray color, or treated with a variety of stains, paints, and seals. The boards are planed smooth and come unsanded and unfinished. While sanding is optional, it is recommended to truly bring out the wood's premium texture. 

Most commonly installed horizontally to visually widen a space, these 8’ V-Groove boards effortlessly span 16" and 24” studs with minimal cutoff waste. They can also be installed vertically to draw the eye upward and emphasize a room's height (which may require adding horizontal furring strips to your studs). V-Groove Cypress can be installed over bare framing, over existing drywall, or directly over old plaster and popcorn ceilings as a beautiful coverup. It's also an excellent choice for crafting heavy-duty farmhouse doors, custom cabinetry, and exterior shutters.

For a seamless finish, these boards are best blind-nailed at a 45-degree angle through the tongue using 15 to 18-gauge finish nails (higher gauge for interior work, and a heavier, lower gauge for exterior siding to safely handle natural seasonal movement). For all exterior applications, proper waterproofing sealant, exterior stain, or paint should be applied to maximize the wood's natural longevity.
